Artist Statement

Exquisite Corpse is an installation project interested in the viewer interaction with the human figure in contexts of distortion. By distorting the figure, it begs to question how one views the human body as a symbol of life, a symbol of death, and a symbol of the universe. Each artist involved within this project explores this theme uniquely in their own body of work. By coming together in collaboration of a figure--each piece brings the various facets of their unique symbology and style into one collective experience.

This experience is important, coming to terms with the physicality of our experience is the quintessential component of developing a sense of self-awareness for the first time in childhood. However this discovery does not end in childhood, the rediscovery of the self throughout life tethers us to reality and the lives we lead. The plethora of contexts is replicated in the variety of figures we compose through these parts.

We hope to foster introspection and curiosity through this installation and are encouraging of communal opinion and consensus in the aftermath of its duration.
