“This is Your Sign”

My aim for this installation was to do work that connects with people on a personal level. People are always looking for signs to make a difference in their lives, and a fortune cookie is a powerful way to send that message. I want to send various messages about growth, acceptance, forgiveness, loss, and love, but all my messages are meant to spread positivity. Creating thin cookies out of clay was a tedious process, and many cookies were thrown away before selecting those for the installation. Over 100 cookies were made before deciding about 95 that would be given out to people. Whoever wants to take these cookies is free to do with them what they will. They are not made to be eaten, and caution should be taken if that person wants to break their piece. My only hope is to brighten or motivate at least one person to make a difference in their life.
